Hot and dry Summers with cold winters.
Typical Varietals
Red: Bastardo, Tinta Roriz, Marufo, Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional and Trincadeira.
White: Côdega do Larinho, Malvasia Fina, Fernão Pires, Gouveio, Rabigato, Síria and Viosinho.
Terroir
Poor, mostly granite, soils with scattered spots of shale, and small deposits of alluvial and gneiss.
