Santa Alba Family Reserve

A single vineyard wine coming from our oldest vineyard. This is a field blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. This wine has been aged in new French oak barrels for over 18 months. Very limited production.

Tasting Notes Appearance: Very dark red and somewhat opaque. Nose: Complex nose with plums, cherries, liquorice, vanilla and cocoa. In mouth: Full bodied with firm yet blended tannins as well as hints of cherry and toffee on the finish
Vinification/Maturation The production of the Family Reserve begins with hand harvesting the grapes from 49 year old vines. A very traditional winemaking method with maceration for 25-30 days. Traditional pumping-over and punch down. Fermentation using active dry yeast (Bayanus); temperature 28-30 degrees Celsius (82-86 Fahrenheit) and then aged 16 to 18 months in new French oak barrels.
